MEDIA ALERT – TRAM CLOSURE
PALM SPRINGS, CA (August 9, 2022) Due to extended clean-up efforts after Monday’s flash flood event, the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway will remain closed through Sunday, August 14.
According to Tramway General Manager Nancy Nichols, “After completing a thorough inspection earlier today, we realized that it would take additional days for the mud and debris to be fully removed from our equipment and dock area. We sincerely regret the inconvenience this is causing our visitors and appreciate their understanding.”
Further updates will be provided, but the Tramway is currently scheduled to reopen on Monday, August 15.
“FIRST RESPONDERS DAYS” RETURNS
Free Tram Admission in August for Those Who Protect Our Communities
PALM SPRINGS, CA (July 25, 2022) For the entire month of August, all qualified first responders receive free admission to the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway as part of “First Responders Days.” In addition, up to four of their guests receive 25% off of their regular tram fares.
According to Tramway General Manager Nancy Nichols, “We are very happy to resume ‘First Responders Days’ here at the Tram. It is our honor to welcome those who so courageously protect and serve our communities. We truly hope they enjoy their visits along with their families and friends.”

- Fire and police personnel
- California Highway Patrol
- County Sheriff Officers
- Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs)
This program runs August 1-31, 2022 with tickets (only) available at the Tramway’s Valley Station on the day of visit.
FOURTH OF JULY WEEKEND AT THE TRAMWAY
Early Opening on July 4 and Guided Nature Walks Continue
PALM SPRINGS, CA (June 25, 2022) The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway will operate with extended hours on Monday, July 4. The first car up will be at 8:00 a.m., the last car up will be at 8:00 p.m. and the last car down will be at 9:30 p.m. And extended summer hours continue on Fridays and Saturdays with the last car up at 9:00 p.m. and the last car down at 10:30 p.m.
Also, Guided Nature Walks by Mt. San Jacinto State Park Volunteers continue Saturdays and Sundays through September 4. These walks feature a choice of two easy trails–the Desert View Trail, a 1½-mile route beginning at 11:00 a.m. and the Long Valley Nature Trail, a ¾-mile loop beginning at 1:30 p.m. No advance registration is required and there is no charge. Walks begin at the bottom of the concrete ramp.
