SPECIAL TRAM HOURS FOR MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. HOLIDAY

PALM SPRINGS, CA (January 3, 2017) The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway will observe holiday hours during the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Weekend January 14-16 with the first Tram up each day at 8:00 a.m., the last Tram up at 8:00 p.m. and the last Tram down at 9:45 p.m. Tram cars depart at least every 30 minutes.

At the Mountain Station, visitors may enjoy viewpoints, a gift shop, a natural history museum, snow fields for sledding, trails for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing, Adventure Center rentals (snow conditions permitting) and two documentary-style movies about the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway and the Mount San Jacinto State Park.

Dining options include:

  • Peaks Restaurant offers a waiter-service dining experience. Reservations are recommended by calling 760-325-4537 or by booking via Open Table on the Tram’s website.
  • Pines Café offers a more casual, cafeteria-style dining alternative.
  • Lookout Lounge offers a variety of alcoholic beverages and appetizers.

Tram admission is $25.95 for adults and $16.95 for children ages 3-12 years.

Special discounts and packages are available after 4:00 p.m. Twilight Tickets are $22.95 for adults and seniors, and $13.95 for children ages 3-12. Ride ‘n’ Dine tickets are $36 for adults and seniors, and $23.50 for children ages 3-12. This combination ticket includes Tram admission and dinner at Pines Café.

BRIAN NESTANDE NAMED NEWEST TRAMWAY AUTHORITY BOARD MEMBER

Former Inland Assemblyman Brian Nestande has been appointed to the Mount San Jacinto Winter Park Authority (MSJWPA) by the Riverside County Board of Supervisors. Mr. Nestande, now deputy county executive officer for Riverside County, represented the 42nd district in the California State Assembly from 2008 to 2014. Previously, he served as chief of staff for Congressman Sonny Bono and then Congresswoman Mary Bono.

Also, Bary Freet, current chairman of the MSJWPA Board, was reappointed by the supervisors for a second term.

“Mr. Nestande is a valuable addition to the Tramway board. His experience in all levels of government is quite unique,” said Rob W. Parkins, general manager of the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. “Also, we are delighted with Chairman Freet’s reappointment for a second four-year term.”

The seven-member Mount San Jacinto Winter Park Authority, a public agency and public corporation of the State of California, is the governing body of Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. The Authority was created by the Mount San Jacinto Winter Park Authority Act Ch.1040 of the Statutes of 1945, as amended by Ch.70 of the Statutes of 1947 and Ch.1004 of the Statutes of 1951, of the State of California.

Two members of the Authority are appointed by the Palm Springs City Council, two by the Riverside County Board of Supervisors and three by the California Governor.  They serve without compensation for a four-year term.

EXTENDED TRAM HOURS FOR INDEPENDENCE DAY

Tramway Opens 8:00 a.m. on July 4

PALM SPRINGS, CA (June 28, 2016) In observance of the Independence Day holiday, the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway will open early on Monday, July 4. The first tram car up that day will be 8:00 a.m., the last tram car up will be 8:00 p.m. and the last tram car down will be 9:45 p.m.

Also, “Early Fridays” (8:00 a.m. first tram car up) continue through Labor Day Weekend, as well as extended summer hours (9:00 p.m. last tram car up on Fridays and Saturdays with last tram car down at 10:30 p.m.)

And don’t forget to join free guided nature walks on Saturdays and Sundays featuring a choice of two easy trails-the Desert View Trail, a 1½-mile loop beginning at 11:00 a.m. or the Long Valley Nature Trail, a ¾-mile loop beginning at 1:30 p.m. Those interested should meet at the bottom of the cement walkway located just outside the Mountain Station.

PALM SPRINGS AERIAL TRAMWAY PRESENTS “MILITARY DAYS”

Armed Forces Receive Free Tram Admission throughout July

PALM SPRINGS, CA (June 15, 2016) For the entire month of July, all military personnel with valid military identification—active and retired—receive free admission to the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway along with a special gift as part of Military Days. In addition, up to six of their guests receive 25% off of their regular Tramway fares.

According to Tramway Vice President of Sales & Marketing Nancy Nichols, “For over a decade, Military Days has been our way of saying ‘Thank you’ to the dedicated men and women of the United States Armed Forces—along with their friends and families. We are delighted to welcome them back again this July.”

While visiting, Tramway guests enjoy:
•       Hiking the 50+ miles of pristine wilderness in the Mount San Jacinto State Park.
•       Picnic dining under a beautiful pine forest.
•       Joining guided nature walks free of charge on Saturdays and Sundays through Labor Day Weekend.
•       Exploring the natural history museum and watching two documentary films on the history of the Tramway and State Park.
•       Lunch or dinner in either Peaks Restaurant, a fine dining experience, or Pines Café, a cafeteria-style restaurant.
