Activities:  The top of the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway offers a myriad of activities year-round for the adventurous and those not quite so inclined.

Authority: The seven-member Mount San Jacinto Winter Park Authority, a public agency and public corporation of the State of California, is the governing body of Palm Springs Aerial Tramway.

Camping:  Primitive campsites are located in four designated campgrounds throughout the Wilderness area.  Wilderness permits are required for any hiking or backpacking.  Day permits may be obtained from the Ranger Station located in Long Valley.

Film & Celebrities:  A number of films and television shows have been filmed at the Tramway, and many prominent celebrities and public figures have visited the tramway.

History: The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway constructed in the rugged Chino Canyon on the north edge of Palm Springs - about two hours by car from Los Angeles and San Diego - did not just happen. It required foresight, planning, financing and, most of all, a vision.

Natural History: During an ascent of the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway one witnesses' flora and fauna changes equivalent to those seen on a motor trip from the Sonora Desert of Mexico, to the Alpine Fringe in Alaska.

New Cars: September 2000, nearly 37 years to the day after the original opening, marked the grand reopening of the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway and the inaugural trip of the rotating Tramcars.

Technical:  Construction of the Tramway was an engineering challenge and was soon labeled the "eighth wonder of the world.''
